Now that it has not one director, but two, Captain Marvel is off to the races. And not a moment too soon, if we’re to expect this movie to still come out in March 2019. Can you believe we still have to wait almost two whole years for Marvel’s first female-led superhero movie? The movie has its star in Brie Larson, but we still have no idea what the plot is going to be, or if any other superheroes we know are going to be in it. What we do know is that it’ll start filming in a little over 9 months from now.

Collider recently spoke with marvel boss Kevin Feige ahead of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and he said that Captain Marvel is scheduled for a February 2018 start.

Assuming everything stays on schedule, we start filming … Captain Marvel in February.

Marvel has their Phases all mapped out, but that doesn’t mean this won’t be subject to change at any time. They already took an entire Inhumans movie off their schedule and snatched a title from The Film Formerly Known As Avengers: Infinity War Part II. But this gives the studio plenty of time to prep a story and find a cast, and since they’re still focused on Black Panther and Infinity War right now, everyone will have some time to recover before starting on the next one. No one is sure how, or even if, Captain Marvel will tie into the broader MCU, but we’re sure to hear more about it as the date approaches.

Captain Marvel, directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, hits theaters March 8, 2019.
