For years, western filmmakers appropriated Asian stories and movies, remaking and adapting as they saw fit. Now, the tables are turning. It started with Korean remakes of popular (and not-so-popular) American films and now it's extended to literary adaptations. So...are you ready for another version of 'Dangerous Liaisons'? Or, more specifically, are you ready for a version of 'Dangerous Liaisons' set in China?

This version, directed by Jin-ho Hur, not only has to live up to the original 1782 French novel, but also Stephen Frears' 1988 version starring John Malkovich and Glenn Close, which is pretty much considered the definitive adaptation at this point. However, this version does have the distinct advantage of having the absurdly gorgeous Ziyi Zhang among its cast members, so at least, if nothing else, it'll feature one of the world's most gorgeous women.

What do you think? Are you interested in seeing China tackle an important work of western literature? And if you've read the book, what do you think of the trailer?
