In some good news for the Scarecrow, Cillian Murphy will re-team with his 'Dark Knight' trilogy and 'Inception' cinematographer Wally Pfister for Pfister's directorial debut.

Latino Review reports that Cillian Murphy has signed on to star in cinematographer Wally Pfister's directorial debut 'Transcendence' alongside Johnny Depp, Paul Bettany, Rebecca Hall, Morgan Freeman, and Kate Mara.

Pfister previously worked as cinematographer for Chris Nolan, working on all four films Murphy starred in for the director -- 'The Dark Knight' trilogy and 'Inception.' And judging by Pfister's work as director of photography, we're really stoked to see what he has in store with this science fiction tale about a man who creates an artificial intelligence program that gains awareness. That man is played by Depp, while Hall will play his wife (Hall also starred in Nolan's 'The Prestige,' which Pfister also shot). The film is said to be in the same vein as 'Inception' (obviously) and '2001: A Space Odyssey' (interesting...).

We don't know much about the rest of the plot, though articles have pointed to the death of Depp's character and that perhaps the artificial intelligence program he's created is integrated with his own mind. That sounds like some pretty hard and fast sci-fi, and we can't wait to hear more.
