We told you. Yesterday, when we shared the first official images from ‘Cloud Atlas,’ we predicted that a trailer likely would be right behind. Lo and behold, here it is: A six-minute 'Cloud Atlas' trailer highlighting the visually inventive collaboration between Tom Tykwer and the Wachowskis.

It is mesmerizing. Truly mesmerizing. The haunting music binds the segments together, but the narrative also weaves visually and, yes, spiritually to tie six characters from different time periods into one narrative. “We cross and re-cross our own tracks like figure skaters.” The movie spans generations, crosses the globe, blends animation (in a ‘Speed Racer’-type dream state), and takes us from the distant past to a post-apocalyptic future. ‘Cloud Atlas’ looks fantastic.

See for yourself. ‘Atlas’ adapts David Mitchell’s sprawling novel, which connects different characters through the fabric of time and fate. The outstanding cast includes Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Hugh Grant, Jim Broadbent, Hugo Weaving, Keith David, James D’Arcy and Susan Sarandon. It will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September before reaching theaters on Oct. 26.
