If there's one thing movie fans have seen over the years, it's that Superman is a tough nut to crack when it comes to making him work on film. Can the combined efforts of director Zack Snyder and producer Christopher Nolan deliver what 'Superman Returns' failed to deliver? Can 'Man of Steel' reinvent Superman for modern audiences? That's the question. Oh, and here's the film's first official poster.

The footage for 'Man of Steel' seemed to go over well at Comic Con (look for our full write-up soon), but the somber, thematically driven footage had to follow the slam-bang, in-your-face epicness of 'Godzilla' and 'Pacific Rim,' which just seems unfair. Anyway, the new poster seems to reflect the feeling of the footage: darker than your usual Superman (think 'Batman Begins'), but with tons of emphasis on the character as an icon.

'Man of Steel' opens on June 14, 2013. You can expect a teaser trailer to be attached to prints of 'The Dark Knight Rises' next week.
