Last week saw ‘Community’ season 6 beefing up the Greendale roster to include both ‘Enlisted’ veteran Keith David and Paget Brewster, and now the newly re-minted Yahoo Screen series will take us behind the scenes of its second episode, as well as Britta’s birth! Sort of. ‘Community’ star Jim Rash with team with frequent partner Nat Faxon to direct the second installment of the season, which will introduce ‘Clue’ stars Martin Mull and Lesley Ann Warren as Britta’s parents.

TV Guide reports that ‘The Descendants’ pair will direct ‘Community’’s season 6’s second episode, following ‘Captain America‘ directors Joe and Anthony Russo returning to helm the first. Rash marks the first of the series’ cast to step behind the camera to direct; he and Faxon previously won the Oscar for ‘The Descendants’’ screenplay, and co-helmed ‘The Way Way Back’ and FOX’s now-discarded ‘Fatrick’ pilot.

Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly confirms that Mull and Warren will appear in the second episode as Britta (Gillian Jacobs)’s parents, though few details of the episode’s plot are known. The second half-hour of the season will also serve as an introduction to Keith David’s character Elroy Patashnik, a retired scientist who comes to Greendale to reinvent himself.

Elsewhere, we know of ‘Community’ season 6 that creator Dan Harmon and executive producer Chris McKenna will remain at the helm, while cast members Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, and Ken Jeong have all signed on to return. Dan Harmon suggested that John Oliver could potentially return as ‘Last Week Tonight’ allowed, while any inclusion of Donald Glover might be reserved for the seemingly inevitable movie, and Jonathan Banks will be busy with ‘Better Call Saul.’

Production is set to begin any day now, while Harmon himself has suggested we might see the ‘Community’ season 6 premiere in early 2015. Production is also expected to keep the series in a weekly format, rather than Netflix’s “all at once’ model. In the meantime, what say you? Are you happy to see ‘Community’ bringing in new (and old) talent for season 6? What do you hope to see by the Greendale gang’s 2015 return?
