Chris Pratt is already a star lord and a dinosaur trainer. With one role, he will add cowboy, ninja, and viking to his resume.

Yes, Pratt will headline Cowboy Ninja Viking. That news is at least two years old, when stories first appeared online about the potential project. Now, via a press release, Universal Pictures has announced a few firmer details. Cowboy Ninja Viking is in the works, and it has a release date: June 28, 2019. Deadline says Pratt will help produce the film, along with starring in it.

Via the press release, a plot synopsis:

Chris Pratt stars as a new kind of assassin who manifests the toughest skills of three different personas: COWBOY NINJA VIKING. The hard-edged actioner laced with attitude is based on the Image Comics graphic novel by AJ Lieberman and illustrator Riley Rossmo.

Notably the release does not mention who is directing this film. (Presumably it is very difficult to find one director who has experience in the cowboy, ninja, and viking genres.)

Late June, just before the Independence Day holiday, is about as big a release date as there is on the summer calendar, and it’s increasingly rare for it to be handed over to a movie with as little name recognition as Cowboy Ninja Viking. Currently the only opposition for Cowboy Ninja Viking on June 2019 weekend is Transformers 7. Which, I guess, could theoretically having robots that think they’re cowboys and ninjas and vikings. That might make things kind of confusing for everyone.
