Earlier today we were talking about new 'Doctor Who' teases from showrunner Steven Moffat himself, laying out what's to come when the series returns in 2013 moving toward the mysterious 50th anniversary special. But why focus on 2013, when the 2012 'Doctor Who' Christmas special "The Snowmen" is mere days away? Check out a brand-new trailer for the upcoming episode, featuring our first taste of 'The Hobbit' star Ian McKellen as "The Snowmen!

While many plan to spend Christmas giving gifts, spending time with family and making general merriment, we'll be glued to the TV watching 'Doctor Who's' 2012 Christmas special, "The Snowmen"! Today, the BBC has released a brand-new trailer for the episode, which highlights Sir Ian McKellen lending his voice to the titular villains of the piece.

In addition to introducing Jenna-Louise Coleman as the Doctor's new companion Clara, "The Snowmen" features Richard E. Grant and Tom Ward as villains, in addition to the return of characters Madame Vastra (Neve McIntosh), Commander Strax (Dan Starkey) and Jenny Flint (Catrin Stewart). The Doctor himself will still have some grieving to do over the departure of Amy and Rory Pond, though we suspect he'll make a triumphant "Geronimo!" into dealing with the icy menace of "The Snowmen" soon enough. And is that a kiss, we spied?

Check out the new trailer for the 2012 'Doctor Who' Christmas special below, and tell us in the comments what you hope to see from "The Snowmen"!
