There's no question fans will be devastated when Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill depart 'Doctor Who' as the good Doctor's companions Amy and Rory, but the show must go on.  We've been waiting quite some time for news of their replacement Jenna-Louise Coleman, and now that 'Doctor Who' has officially begun filming with the actress, the timey-wimey time has come!

Though the character will actually be introduced in the 2012 Christmas special, Jenna-Louise Coleman has officially begun filming regular episodes as the latest 'Doctor Who' companion.  Along with shots obtained of the actress filming with star Matt Smith, the internet is abuzz with news of said companion's name.  Say hello to "Clara!"

Although initially rumored to be something else entirely, it would appear that Clara represents yet another of the Doctors' human companions.  On the subject of Clara (though he wouldn't use her name at the time), series show-runner Steven Moffat said to Doctor Who TV:

It's just very exciting. When a new companion comes in it sort of reboots the show a little bit, it makes you look at the Doctor differently, it makes the show feel different, that's already happening. It's literally a new beginning, you're back to chapter one, in a way it's always a story of someone getting to know the Doctor, and now it's Jenna's character.

There's a lot of ways (her character) will be different, but I'm not telling you what they are! Jenna is just wonderful and spiky and salty and clever: again — just as Doctor Who always does — it becomes a different show, and I'm thrilled with her, everyone's going to be.

On-set reporters also snapped photos of Coleman and Matt Smith filming what's likely to be the 11th episode of the series, taking place in a Victorian era.  Check out the photos below, and tell us what you think of the Doctor's new companion in action!  Will you be ready when 'Doctor Who's seventh season drops later this year?
