Earlier this week 'Doctor Who' afforded us our best look yet at the newest Time Lord incarnation played by Matt Smith's replacement Peter Capaldi, though we'd be hard pressed to deny a bit of sadness when season 8 finally premieres, Smith now firmly in the past. There may be hope yet after all, as a new rumor suggests Smith recorded one last bit of content for his 'Doctor Who' exit that will pop up in the series 8 premiere!

Via Doctor Who TV, it seems viewers won't be the only one with a difficult time accepting Peter Capaldi's brash new "rebel" Doctor, as Clara (Jenna Louise-Coleman) becomes a bit despondent with her now significantly-older (and Scottish!) companion, having fancied Matt Smith's 11th incarnation so. The premiere will supposedly see a bit of blast from the past however, as Smith is believed to have recorded dialogue for a phone call to the present Clara, just before his regeneration!

A snippet of the supposed dialogue, which would have partially been filmed by "The Time of the Doctor":

Clara: What do you mean.. “it’s the Doctor?”

11th Doctor: I’m phoning you from Trenzalore.

Clara: I don’t understand.

11th Doctor: From the past. From before I changed. It’s all still to happen for me. It’s coming though, not long now, I can feel it.

Clara: But.. why would you do this?

If sources are to be believed, the 11th will look out for his subsequent iteration by assuring that Clara would be every bit as scared about the change as 12, who will himself share a bit of dialogue with his past counterpart.

'Doctor Who' has a fine track record keeping secrets until airdate, but in the meantime, what do you think? Would you want Matt Smith to return as the Doctor, however briefly, or would you prefer not to dwell on the past, moving forward with Peter Capaldi? Series 8 will premiere later this year, so give us your 'Doctor Who' wishlist in the comments!
