20th Century Fox appropriately released the first Independence Day: Resurgence teaser on the Fourth of July, but since director Roland Emmerich was still in production on the long-awaited sequel, there was no actual footage in the teaser. And while we do know a few things about where Emmerich is heading with the new film, we still don’t have the slightest clue what to expect — but the director promises we’ll know a lot more around Christmas.

While talking with CinemaBlend, Emmerich was asked when we can expect to see some actual footage from Independence Day: Resurgence, to which the director replied:

It will probably be happening around the Christmas season.

Fox currently has three films hitting theaters at Christmastime: Joy, The Revenant, and Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip. Joy is the best bet of the three as it has a wider, more general appeal, but there are other, non-Fox films hitting theaters around Christmas that would be a good fit for the first Independence Day: Resurgence trailer, including Star Wars: The Force Awakens — obviously.

So far we know that Independence Day: Resurgence takes place 20 years after the first film, with the nations of the world uniting to form the Earth Space Defense, integrating the technology left behind from the previous alien invasion to build more sufficient weapons for potential future attacks. The film features original cast members Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Vivica A. Fox, Judd Hirsch and Brent Spiner, along with new additions Maika Monroe, William Fichtner, Charlotte Gainsbourg (of all people! Amazing!), Joey King and Sela Ward.

Independence Day: Resurgence hits theaters on June 24, 2016.
