A few weeks back we learned that a few actresses were on 20th Century Fox’s shortlist to star opposite Channing Tatum in Gambit: Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation breakout star Rebecca Ferguson, Mad Max: Fury Road’s Abbey Lee, and Spectre’s Lea Seydoux. Ferguson declined to take the part, leaving just Lee and Seydoux, but it looks like the latter has the part locked down…if she wants it.

Following recent screen tests, Deadline reports that Fox has officially offered the role of Bella Donna Boudreaux to Seydoux. If cast, she’ll play the childhood friend and love interest of Remy LeBeau, aka Gambit. The pair come from warring guilds — he from the Thieves’ Guild and she from the Assassins’ Guild — and the two groups feel that their blossoming romance could be the key to forging an alliance. Bella develops some powers of her own and goes on to become the head of her guild.

Seydoux is well-known for her roles in Midnight in Paris and Blue Is the Warmest Color, and appears next opposite Daniel Craig’s James Bond in Spectre. Ferguson previously dropped out prior to screen tests so she could take a role in the upcoming adaptation of The Girl on the Train.

Gambit is being directed by Rupert Wyatt and is set to hit theaters on October 7, 2016.
