New ‘Ghostbusters’ Troll Their Haters With a ‘Folk Lady’ Version of the Classic Theme Song
The cast of Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters are set to appear on The Graham Norton Show on June 23, but a couple of clips from their delightful episode have popped up online, including one in which Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy — at Feig’s urging — perform their “folk lady” version of the classic theme song. As an added bonus, their sharply-dressed director gets slimed, straight-up Nickelodeon style.
Wiig, McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones appear in an upcoming episode of the consistently wonderful BBC talk show, where they’re joined by special surprise guest Paul Feig. The director cutely reveals that since they’re “in the business of ruining male childhoods,” Wiig and McCarthy came up with a way to really enrage that particular fanbase with a “folk lady” cover of the classic Ghostbusters theme song — but they’ll only perform it if Feig gets slimed, which Leslie Jones is much more excited about than anyone else.
And if you can’t wait until June 23, The BBC released an additional clip in which McCarthy discusses their hunky co-star Chris Hemsworth and how he’s almost annoyingly perfect — not only is he handsome and funny, he’s a great guy and a good singer. Ugh, what a jerk:
Ghostbusters hits theaters on July 15, which also happens to the be same day that all copies of the original 1984 film, in every format, will simultaneously self-destruct.
