And the 'Hunger Games' sequel news has officially started rolling out with as much regularity as the daily mail delivery. The latest: Lionsgate's shortlist of talent includes Melissa Leo, Tony Shalhoub, and possible contender for the role of Finnick Odair -- Sam Claflin. Sam who now?

According to Variety, 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' has its sights set on Melissa Leo for the role of Mags and Tony Shalhoub for the role of Beetlee. Also on that list is Sam Claflin for Finnick Odair, a fan favorite character and a crucial part of the 'Catching Fire' story.

The role of Finnick was rumored to be offered to several high profile names like Robert Pattinson, Taylor Kitsch, and Armie Hammer. It's one of the most anticipated casting announcements, as Finnick comes across Katniss and Peeta during the Quarter Quell (the 75th annual Hunger Games) during a very important moment.

Mags is Finnick's mentor and she offers to take the place of his lover during the games, developing a close relationship with Katniss along the way. Beetlee is an inventor who plays with electricity, earning him the nickname "Volts" (clever).

It all sounds so appropriately quirky, except for Sam Claflin, who has failed to make a solid impression on screen after roles in 'Snow White and the Huntsman' and 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.'

Of course, these names are not yet confirmed by Lionsgate and nothing is official.
