So, I don’t know if you’ve heard, but the world is a pretty scary place right now. Millions of Americans are worried about the future of their healthcare; millions more are struggling under the weight of college debt. North Korea is threatening nuclear attacks on our country. No matter your political alignment, there’s at least a dozen horrifying news stories competing for your attention ever single day. In times like these, even stupid little news stories can be a welcome break from the monotony of horror spitting out of our Twitter feed.

Stupid little news stories like James McAvoy‘s hatred of his bald head! In a recent interview with People (via iO9) to promote Atomic Blonde, McAvoy opened up a little bit about his feelings about shaving his head for the X-Men franchise. Spoiler alert? He’s pretty much over it:

I used to like the fact that it afforded me a certain amount of anonymity but it no longer does that. Since I did two movies that everybody saw where I had a bald head, now it’s like a f—ing beacon. But what do I like about it? Not a lot at the moment. I like when it’s been about five or seven days going in, then it’s cool but when it’s properly skinhead I look a bit weird. I do like the fact that I don’t have to do anything in the morning.

OK, so McAvoy complaining about his shaved head isn’t exactly a Daniel-Craig-promising-to-slash-his-wrists level franchise controversy, but you have to admit that this has been a pretty great month for all hair-related movie complaints, yeah? With the recent news that Henry Cavill wasn’t allowed to shave his Mission: Impossible 6 mustache for Justice League reshoots - not that he’s in the movie, of course, because Superman is dead - McAvoy can add his name to the ledger of actors who suffer through terrible hair constraints to deliver that perfect performance. And given all the terrible shenanigans going on in the world right now, a story like this is the perfect way to bounce back from a long day.
