Following his detour into action on Furious 7, director James Wan is heading back to the horror genre — not that he ever really left. In addition to acting as producer on the upcoming flicks Insidious: Chapter 3 and Demonic, Wan is directing The Conjuring 2. That’s a solid slate of new projects, and Wan has just added another one to the pile: the director will reunite with the writers of The Conjuring to produce a remake of classic horror film The Entity.

According to THR, Wan and Roy Lee will produce the remake of the 1982 horror film, with Conjuring writers Chad and Carey Hayes providing the screenplay. The original film was, like The Conjuring, inspired by an alleged true story in which a single mother was haunted, physically abused and sexually tormented by a savage demon. Barbara Hershey played the lead role of Carla Moran in the film, which co-starred Ron Silver.

As of now, Wan is not currently attached to direct The Entity, though the director has recently expressed a desire to get back into the horror genre following his work on Furious 7. It was recently reported that Warner Bros., the distributors of The Conjuring, are interested in hiring Wan to direct the Aquaman solo film, scheduled for release in 2017.

It may be a while before Wan signs on for another directing gig as he heads into production on The Conjuring 2, which hits theaters on June 10, 2016.
