The great joy behind LEGOs is that they give you the ability to create. Sometimes, that means creating an elaborate fantasy world where only you know the rules. Other times, that means recreating your favorite movies. Many films have been the subject of LEGO parodies and tributes, but few have felt as successful as this 'Jaws' set, which could potentially go into production if enough people give it their support.

LEGO Ideas (which used to be known as LEGO Cuusoo) is an annual contest where fans submit their custom designs with the hope of being selected for actual production. If a project gets 10,000 supporters, LEGO will take the idea under consideration. Movie-themed sets have proved incredible popular in the past, with a 'Back to the Future' Delorean set and a 'Ghostbusters' 30th anniversary tribute winning in recent years. 'Jaws' is just as popular as those films (and it's even better than them!), so with a little luck and the right exposure, this set has the potential to go all the way.

As you can see in the images below, the set depicts the iconic boat Orca, the deadly shark of the title and the three brave souls who set out to save the tiny tourist town of Amity Island from a watery grave. Yes, you should be excited by the prospect of Quint (Robert Shaw), Brody (Roy Scheider) and Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss) LEGO minifigs. If you're anything like us, you can't wait to break the ship in half, pose it in a half sunken position and place the Quint figure in the gaping maw of the shark.

You can offer the project your support (and check out other entries) over at LEGO Idea's official site. Maybe it's because we're serious movie geeks here at ScreenCrush, but we have a hard time imagining anything topping this.
