Have your friends and family members ever told you that you can sing like Frankie Valli? Do you think you’ve got what it takes to hold down one of the leading roles in Jon Favreau’s planned silver-screen adaptation of the hit musical ‘Jersey Boys?’ Then this might be your lucky day.

The Web site JerseyBoysMovieCasting.com advertises an open casting call for Favreau’s musical, which will shoot in New York City beginning January 2013. In an interesting turn, the ‘Iron Man’ director appears ready to sidestep celebrities for the lead roles, as they have opened up the search to choice roles like Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito, and Nick Massi … in other words, they want talented newcomers to play the Four Seasons.

That’s one way to go. But we're not entirely sure Favreau wouldn’t be better served tapping some of the incredible talents who bring that show to life night after night on the Great White Way (and various touring productions).

Maybe those performers will audition, and be considered, as well. But for now, Favreau is casting his net to a wide-open sea. There are buttons on the site to attend an open casting call for the movie. These will be held in New York and Philadelphia (though the Philly one happens today). Also, the site allows people to send in their auditions online. Interesting.

Jon Favreau’s a bright choice for ‘Jersey Boys.’ And it sounds like he’s taking advantage of modern technology to find the right performers for his key roles. Casting will be crucial. Let’s see who he finds.
