John Wick’ was perhaps the most surprising movie of 2014. It’s a movie we didn't think much of before we saw it, but after we did, we couldn't stop talking about it. The world of John Wick is one that we wanted to revisit almost immediately after the credits rolled, and now that the film is on DVD and Blu-ray, we can do that. But, what about John Wick's return in a new adventure? Directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch confirmed that they're working on a ‘John Wick 2’ and that it will be “awesome.”

Stahelski told Movies.com, “We’re in development right now” on a sequel to ‘John Wick’. When pressed for details (because WE NEED DETAILS), Stahelski didn't sound like he was ready to spill the beans on how Wick would return:

We have ideas for days and without blinking twice we know we can outdo the action from the original. It’s the matter of story and how much you like the character. That’s always the most important. If there’s great action but you have a character that no one likes and doesn’t have charisma you’re not going to watch it [...] So we want to make sure we have a story and a character that everybody loves and then we’ll dress it with action that we promise will be awesome.

And that would be fine. While we're intrigued at the prospects of The Further Adventures of John Wick, we've also been burned by a lot of unnecessary, sub-par sequels to very enjoyable action movies. Maybe ‘John Wick’ was just a great movie that can live on its own? Maybe there's a fun way to keep the spirit of the film alive without a proper sequel?

Glad you asked.

So, if we were in charge (which we're not), we'd instead explore the idea of a TV series based in and around The Continental, the chic Hotel For Assassins seen in the second half of the film. It's an underground establishment owned by Winston (Ian McShane) and run by Charon (Lance Reddick). Their currency of choice is gold coins (for no particular reason). There's a membership that comes with rules like “no business in the bar.” There's a doctor (and tailor) on site just in case you get shot up in your fancy attire. It's exactly the kind of bizarro world we'd want to visit on a regular level. It's like ‘Fawlty Towers’ but with smooth, sexy assassins!

That's probably never going to happen but, hey, call us Lionsgate TV! Whether ‘John Wick 2’ actually happens also remains to be seen. Stahelski and Leitch are also working on ‘Cowboy Ninja Viking’, the Chris Pratt movie on the fasttrack at Universal and may find themselves otherwise occupied.

What do you think? Are you ready for a ‘John Wick’ sequel?
