LAIKA, the studio that brought us the Oscar-nominated animated feature 'ParaNorman,' is reuniting with Focus Features for a new animated project called 'The Boxtrolls' and it sounds too cute. Are these guys the new Pixar?

LAIKA, the animated studio behind 'Coraline' and last year's incredibly animated, hilarious and heart-warming 'ParaNorman' are re-teaming with Focus Features for a new animated film called 'The Boxtrolls.' Based on the novel 'Here Be Monsters' by Alan Snow, this 3D animated adventure will be part CG, part stop-motion, much like 'ParaNorman.'

The story takes place in the fictional, Victorian-era town of Cheesebridge, where everyone is obsessed with money and very smelly cheese (the smellier, the better). At night while everyone sleeps, scary monsters called Boxtrolls emerge from their home beneath the streets and steal the two things that matter most to the people of the town: their kids and their cheeses. But the truth is that the Boxtrolls are peaceful, wacky little creatures who wear cardboard boxes as shells and have raised a human child as their own. When an exterminator targets the Boxtrolls in hopes of eradicating them to earn his way into high society (and better, smellier cheeses), the little creatures must call on their human companion and an adventurous little rich girl to help the people of the town understand that they are harmless.

Toni Collette, Sir Ben Kingsley, Elle Fanning, Jared Harris, Isaac Hempstead-Wright ('Game of Thrones'), Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Richard Ayoade, and Tracy Morgan have signed on to lend their voices to the new film, making this voice cast pretty damn impressive already.
