Though the teaser trailer makes the narrative pretty clear, there's still a lot to get one's head around about Rian Johnson's 'Looper.'  Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays a looper, whose job it is to kill people from the future. What happens when he's asked to kill his future self (Bruce Willis)? This movie. Check out the teaser...

From the trailer, there's a great premise and great scale for a non-tentpole release. Of course, Johnson's already proven himself to be one of our great working directors with films like 'Brick' and The Brother's Bloom.' But with each film his scale keeps getting bigger and bigger, and this looks huge.

The other great thing about this trailer is that it's an interesting premise to wrap your mind around, but the trailer lays it out in a clean fashion and also promises an action movie. How Emily Blunt figures into all of it (or the as yet unrevealed Piper Perabo) is still unknown, but when it comes to high concept films it's great to see a trailer that gets you interested in the premise without having to ask how it all works. This is one of our most anticipated films of the year, and it opens September 28.
