Documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock has been on a tear as of late, researching the location of terrorist leader Osama Bin Laden, exploring the omnipotence of product placement in pop culture, and embracing the geek community that convenes on San Diego for Comic-Con each year. But his latest film asks one of the most difficult questions our society has yet to answer: What makes a man?

Is it a guy’s occupation? His hobbies and habits? His facial hair, or the meticulous ways he chooses to groom it? Can “manliness” be defined at all?

These are some of the questions Spurlock and his producers, Jason Bateman and Will Arnett, hope to address in their new documentary, ‘Mansome.’ The first trailer arrived online, promising insight from some of Hollywood’s funniest talents, including Judd Apatow, Zach Galifianakis, Adam Carolla and the ‘Arrested Development’ co-stars, themselves.

Spurlock also appears ready to hit the streets and get feedback from men of all different shapes and sizes. ‘Mansome’ might not have all of the answers. But it appears to offer plenty of shots of guys being shaved. So if that’s your cup of tea, consider this your lucky day.

‘Mansome’ doesn’t have a release date yet, but is expected to be out before the end of the year. Maybe Spurlock will go the VOD route, as he did with ‘Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan’s Hope.” Either way, we’ll keep you posted on the film’s progress, if only because it’s the closest thing we have to an ‘Arrested Development’ reunion until that show gets its act to Netflix at some point in the distant future.
