‘Mission: Impossible 6’ Recruits ‘Rogue Nation’ Star Rebecca Ferguson to Return
Rebecca Ferguson nearly stole the show right out from under Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, so it was hardly surprising when we learned that Paramount wanted the actress to be the first leading lady to appear in more than one M:I film. It looks like Christmas has come early for Paramount (and all of us), as Ferguson is reportedly set to reprise her role as Ilsa Faust in Mission: Impossible 6.
Showbiz 411 reports that Ferguson’s contract is “signed, sealed and delivered” for M:I 6, with Rogue Nation writer / director and Cruise favorite Christopher McQuarrie at the helm. It’s great news for a couple of reasons: Ferguson was supremely badass in Rogue Nation, flexing some serious action-flick muscles as the charismatic and enigmatic Faust, and proving herself equal to Cruise’s Ethan Hunt on every level. We’re obviously stoked to see what sort of mind-blowing, exceedingly dangerous stunts she can cook up for Hunt next time.
Ferguson is also the first leading lady to appear in more than one Mission: Impossible film, which further proves how much everyone — audiences, the studio, Cruise, et al. — loves her.
Neither Paramount nor Ferguson’s rep have confirmed her return for the sequel, which begins production next August for a 2017 release. Ferguson is in high-demand right now thanks to Rogue Nation; she’s appearing next opposite Emily Blunt in the thriller The Girl on the Train and with Michael Fassbender in The Snowman. She’s also been rumored for a part in Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant.
