We make no secret of our unabashed love for NBC's dark and disturbing new drama 'Hannibal,' one which will only grow as the coming weeks introduce a bounty of familiar faces, chief among them former 'X-Files' star Dana Scully Gillian Anderson! Guesting in four episodes, Anderson will take the treacherous role of Dr. Hannibal Lecter's own psychologist, so take a look at the first photo of the actress served up on 'Hannibal' inside!

Only two episodes into its first course season and all the critics have continued to rave about NBC's Bryan Fuller-helmed 'Hannibal.' The series will debut its third episode this coming Thursday, while a later episode in the season will introduce Gillian Anderson as Hannibal's psychologist Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier (quite a mouthful, no?).

Anderson will appear in a four-episode arc over the course of the season, beginning with 'Hannibal's' seventh episode and culminating in the season finale. Whether or not Anderson ends up on the good Dr. Lecter's (Mads Mikkelsen) table remains to be seen, but in the meantime, Entertainment Weekly snagged the first photo of the actress in character, as seen below.

In addition to Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy in the leading roles, ‘Hannibal’ boasts appearances from ‘Dead Like Me’s’ Ellen Muth, Lance Henriksen, Gina Torres playing Jack Crawford's wife, comedian Eddie Izzard, ‘SNL‘ alum Molly Shannon, ‘Pushing Daisies’ vet Ellen Greene, ‘Wonderfalls’ star Chelan Simmons, and Raul Esparza as Dr. Frederick Chilton.

Check out Gillian Anderson's appetizing 'Hannibal' appearance below, and tell us in the comments what you think of NBC's dark new Bryan Fuller series!
