‘Neon Demon’ Trailer: A Horror Movie Version of a Perfume Ad
Say what you will about director Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive, Only God Forgives, those Matthew McConaughey car commercials), but the man surely knows how to craft a beautiful looking shot. His latest film, The Neon Demon, appears to be no exception. While we’re still not entirely sure what is going on in this new trailer, it sure looks damn good.
The film, which stars Elle Fanning, Bella Heathcote, Abbey Lee, Christina Hendricks and Keanu Reeves was reported to be a horror movie, but there are only mild glimpses of horror in this stylish trailer, which looks like it could double for a perfume ad. It’s definitely got a Black Swan vibe going on, though to be perfectly honest, we have no idea how much of that vibe pervades the entire film.
Here’s how Amazon Studios describes the film:
When aspiring model Jesse moves to Los Angeles, her youth and vitality are devoured by a group of beauty-obsessed women who will take any means necessary to get what she has.
The film was just announced this morning as one of the In Competition films at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, so it won’t be long before we get some feedback on Refn’s latest and what it’s all about.
For the rest of us, we’ll have to wait until later this June when Neon Demon opens in theaters.
