New DVD and Blu-ray Releases: June 2015

You don’t have to leave home to enjoy a great movie this summer — there’s lots of great stuff hitting retail shelves if you’d rather take in a movie in the comfort of your own home. Kingsman: The Secret Service, Chappie, Jupiter Ascending and many more are all heading to shelves next month. Read on for our guide to what’s hitting DVD and Blu-ray in June.

June 2

Focus: Starring Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Rodrigo Santoro. In the midst of veteran con man Nicky’s latest scheme, a woman from his past — now an accomplished femme fatale — shows up and throws his plans for a loop.

Jupiter Ascending: Starring Channing Tatum, Mila Kunis and Eddie Redmayne. A young woman discovers her destiny as an heiress of intergalactic nobility and must fight to protect the inhabitants of Earth from an ancient and destructive industry.

McFarland, USA: Starring Kevin Costner, Maria Bello and Ramiro Rodriguez. A cross country coach in a small California town transforms a team of athletes into championship contenders.

SpongeBob: Sponge Out of Water: Starring Tom Kenny, Antonio Banderas and Bill Fagerbakke. When a diabolical pirate above the sea steals the secret Krabby Patty formula, SpongeBob and his nemesis Plankton must team up in order to get it back.

June 9

Justified Season 6: Starring Timothy Olyphant, Walton Goggins and Joelle Carter. Old-school U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens is reassigned from Miami to his childhood home in the poor, rural coal-mining towns in Eastern Kentucky.

Kingsman: The Secret Service: Starring Colin Firth, Taron Egerton and Samuel L. Jackson. A spy organization recruits an unrefined, but promising street kid into the agency’s ultra-competitive training program, just as a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius.

Project Almanac: Starring Amy Landecker, Sofia Black-D’Elia and Virginia Gardner. A group of teens discover secret plans of a time machine, and construct one. However, things start to get out of control.

Red Army: The story of the Soviet Union’s famed Red Army hockey team through the eyes of its players.

Serena: Starring Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence and Rhys Ifans. In Depression-era North Carolina, the future of George Pemberton’s timber empire becomes complicated when he marries Serena.

June 16

Beyond the Reach: Starring Michael Douglas, Jeremy Irvine and Martin Palmer. A high-rolling corporate shark and his impoverished young guide play the most dangerous game during a hunting trip in the Mojave Desert.

Camp X-Ray: Starring Kristen Stewart, Peyman Moaadi and Lane Garrison. A soldier assigned to Guantanamo Bay befriends a man who has been imprisoned there.

Chappie: Starring Sharlto Copley, Dev Patel and Hugh Jackman. In the near future, crime is patrolled by a mechanized police force. When one police droid, Chappie, is stolen and given new programming, he becomes the first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself.

The Lazarus Effect: Starring Mark Duplass, Olivia Wilde and Donald Glover. A group of medical students discover a way to bring dead patients back to life.

The Newsroom Season 3: Starring Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer and John Gallagher Jr. A newsroom undergoes some changes in its workings and morals as a new team is brought in, bringing unexpected results for its existing news anchor.

Run All Night: Starring Liam Neeson, Joel Kinnaman and Ed Harris. Mobster and hit man Jimmy Conlon has one night to figure out where his loyalties lie: with his estranged son, Mike, whose life is in danger, or his longtime best friend, mob boss Shawn Maguire, who wants Mike to pay for the death of his own son.

The Forger: Starring John Travolta, Tye Sheridan and Christopher Plummer. A thief works with his father and son to forge a painting by Monet and steal the original. Together, they plan the heist of their lives.

June 30

Danny Collins: Starring Al Pacino, Annette Bening and Jennifer Garner. An aging rock star decides to change his life when he discovers a 40-year-old letter written to him by John Lennon.

Get Hard: Starring Will Ferrell, Kevin Hart and Alison Brie. When millionaire James King is jailed for fraud and bound for San Quentin, he turns to Darnell Lewis to prep him to go behind bars.

The Gunman: Starring Sean Penn, Idris Elba and Jasmine Trinca. A sniper on a mercenary assassination team, kills the minister of mines of the Congo. Terrier’s successful kill shot forces him into hiding. Returning to the Congo years later, he becomes the target of a hit squad himself.

House of Cards Season 3: Starring Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright and Michael Gill. A Congressman works with his equally conniving wife to exact revenge on the people who betrayed him.

Last Knights: Starring Clive Owen, Morgan Freeman and Aksel Hennie. A fallen warrior rises against a corrupt and sadistic ruler to avenge his dishonored master.

While We’re Young: Starring Ben Stiller, Naomi Watts and Adam Driver. A middle-aged couple’s career and marriage are overturned when a disarming young couple enters their lives.
