A new Xbox One title from Rare will resurrect one of the developer's old franchises, which will be revealed at this year's E3. But which franchise will we see?

In an interview on Polygon, Microsoft Studios corporate vice president Phil Spencer said that a "historic IP" might show up at E3. "Historic" could mean anything from the Killer Instinct fighting game series, Banjo-Kazooie, Conker, or even Perfect Dark.

With regard to the Xbox One reveal, Spencer said, "We had a limited amount of time today and a lot of story to tell. But Rare remains an incredibly important part of our development capability. That historic IP that they've built I think can play a real important role on Xbox One."

So, at the moment, it's still anyone's guess what franchise Rare will try to resurrect on the Xbox One. At least we won't have to wait long to find out what it is, since E3 will take place next month from June 11th through June 13th. Microsoft's pre-show press conference is scheduled to go down on June 10th, and the company has already promised more games will be on display at that time.

Which classic Rare franchise would you want to see on the Xbox One? Let us know in the comments.
