The brothers-in-law (get it?!) are back, and this time Ice Cube is taking Kevin Hart down to Miami as Ride Along 2 takes the ride along on a road trip. The first trailer for the sequel has landed, and…this sort of looks like a rehash of the first film. That might not be an entirely bad thing, at least not on the studio level, since the first Ride Along proved to be such a big hit.

Ice Cube’s officer James Payton is taking Kevin Hart’s nerdy Ben Barber on another ride along to make Ben prove — again — that he’s worthy of James’ sister. Didn’t we do this last time? Apparently it wasn’t good enough. But this time around we have a new lineup of supporting characters, including Ken Jeong, Sherri Shepherd as a difficult wedding planner, Olivia Munn as some sort of law official, and Benjamin Bratt as the big bad.

The official synopsis doesn’t offer much of anything in the way of plot:

Kevin Hart and Ice Cube lead the returning lineup of Ride Along 2, the sequel to the blockbuster action-comedy that gave us the year’s most popular comedy duo. Joining Hart and Cube for the next chapter of the series are director Tim Story, as well as Cube’s fellow producers—Will Packer, Matt Alvarez and Larry Brezner—who will produce alongside Cube.

Tim Story returns to direct the sequel based on a script by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi. Ride Along 2 hits theaters on January 15, 2016.
