Seth MacFarlane’s ‘Flintstones’ Reboot Delayed
Oh, how the mighty have fallen! Where once it seemed like Seth MacFarlane couldn't be stopped, executive producing, writing and starring in three animated series in addition to nursing a burgeoning film career, now the media and animation mogul finally got a little too big for his britches. But which project ends up suffering?
According to Deadline, MacFarlane's long-developed reboot of the classic Hanna Barbera cartoon 'The Flintstones' will be the one to fall behind, with the writer unable to devote enough time to the project in between 'Family Guy,' 'American Dad,' 'The Cleveland Show,' and his upcoming feature film debut 'Ted,' among other projects. MacFarlane had previously spent years looking to secure the rights to update 'The Flintstones,' as one of his childhood favorites.
Production on 'The Flintstones' was set to begin in late 2011 for a 2013 release date, but MacFarlane is still busy with post-production on 'Ted,' which he also co-wrote and voices the title character for alongside Mark Wahlberg. In addition to his all-renewed FOX animated series, MacFarlane was also involved in producing his other long-time passion project, the new 13-part docu-series 'Cosmos: A Space-Time Odyssey,' also slated for 2013.
For the moment, neither reps for MacFarlane, nor FOX or Warner Bros. TV have opted to comment on their decision to delay the 'Flintstones' reboot.
What say you? Does this latest delay shake your faith in Seth MacFarlane, or is his combined breadth of work more than enough to placate you before 'The Flintstones' finally gets rolling? Tell us what you're most looking forward to from the animation mogul in the comments below!
