We’re in the middle of a kind of resurgence of ’90s disaster-adventure movies. We just had Geostorm a few months ago, in a bit we’re getting The Hurricane Heist, and Dwayne Johnson, probably the actor who’s embraced these kinds of movies the most, is bringing us Skyscraper this July, a movie about a very tall building that I’m just gonna guess is going to fall at some point.

The Rock shared the first teaser for the movie on his Instagram, announcing that the first full trailer will debut during the Super Bowl this Sunday.

Interestingly, Johnson spends a lot of time congratulating himself and his team for making a movie entirely based off of an original idea, which, yeah is something pretty cool. I don’t think this is going to be Citizen Kane or anything, but it’s neat to see studios taking chances on funding these extremely B-movies just because they’ll provide some fun escapist entertainment to go with your popcorn and slushies. Here's the full synopsis:

Johnson stars as a former FBI Hostage Rescue Team leader and war veteran who now assesses security for skyscrapers. On assignment in China he finds the tallest, safest building in the world suddenly ablaze, and he’s been framed for it. A wanted man on the run, he must find those responsible, clear his name and somehow rescue his family who are trapped inside the building… above the fire line.

Skyscraper crashes into theaters July 13.
