A few months ago we heard that the new Star Trek sequel is called Star Trek Beyond, but those rumors remained unconfirmed by Paramount. Director Justin Lin has now officially confirmed the title of the third Trek film while also revealing the first photo from the set of the sequel.

According to Justin Lin’s tweet, the third Star Trek film is indeed titled Star Trek Beyond:

The photo hardly needs explanation — that’s a Starfleet patch on what looks like someone’s jacket. What else is there to say, really? It’s a good-looking patch. The logo is made of suede, so that’s nice.

But it’s also the very first photo from Star Trek 3, a film that went through a bit of a rough patch there for a while with original director Roberto Orci stepping down and Paramount replacing him with Fast and Furious vet Justin Lin. Simon Pegg stepped in to write a new draft of the screenplay, promising us a Trek film that will embrace what made the original series special by giving us a real sense of adventure.

Not much is known about the sequel at this time, aside from the cast: Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin and John Cho will all reprise their roles from the first two films. Joining them are Trek newcomers Idris Elba and Kingsman: The Secret Service star Sofia Boutella.

Star Trek Beyond hits theaters on July 8, 2016.
