‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Leaps Off the Page With New Opening Credits
If you’ve seen one montage of Federation ships sailing through space, you’ve seen them all. That’s why Star Trek: Discovery aimed for something different with its title credits, as the intricate designs and technology leap off the page before Sunday’s premiere.
We’ve heard the actual score, but CBS released the full Star Trek: Discovery title sequence before the big Sunday premiere. No cosmic montage of outer space phenomena, but rather artful looks at all the iconography as if viewed through an x-ray.
Premiering tonight, Discovery features Walking Dead alum Sonequa Martin-Green as First Officer Michael Burnham, along with Rainn Wilson as Harry Mudd, Jason Isaacs as Captain Lorca, Michelle Yeoh as Captain Georgiou, James Frain as Spock’s father Sarek, Doug Jones as an alien science officer, Adam Rapp as the TV franchise’s first openly-gay character and multiple Klingon roles. And while the series may have lost showrunner Bryan Fuller, Trek favorites Nicholas Meyer, Rod Roddenberry, Kirsten Beyer and Joe Menosky are all on board.
We’ll see if the Sunday premiere lives up to past Star Trek, so stay tuned.
