Bad Robot

It's been a good long while since we've heard anything concrete (or metal?) from Bad Robot's proposed HBO adaptation of 1973 sci-fi classic 'Westworld,' but with 'True Detective' raising the network's bar for casting, the J.J. Abrams-produced drama has assembled some major A-list talent. Joining the 'Westworld' pilot are none other than Anthony Hopkins and Evan Rachel Wood, with 'X-Men' star James Marsden in talks for a role as well.

It can be hard these days for pilots to stand out among the crowd without some kind of established brand in place, but in the case of 'Gravity' Oscar-winner Alfonso Cuaron and Bad Robot's new NBC series drama 'Believe,' that won't be an issue. Ever the busy producer, J.J. Abrams not only has 'Star Trek,' 'Star Wars' and 'Revolution' on his plate, his company Bad Robot is looking to get the rights to Stephen King's '11/22/63' and bring it to the small screen.

And Bad Robot grabs two new scripts in one day. This time around it's the spec script 'Wunderkind,' from scribe Patrick Aison, which Paramount has purchased for J.J. Abrams' production outfit.

You've got to hand it to 'Fringe.'  Even relegated to the so-called "Friday Night Death Slot," facing stunted ratings and given FOX's propensity to cancel anything that moves these days, the J.J.
