When I watched the Comic-Con panel for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, I thought to myself, “Man, Jesse Eisenberg does not look happy to be here.”

San Diego Comic-Con. Hall H. Land of excitement, exclusives — and absurdly long lines. All weekend, thousands of geeks waited to get into one of Comic-Con’s famous Hall H panels. By Thursday, the line stretched almost a mile and a half across the waterfront. Meanwhile, tucked into an obscure corner of the San Diego Convention Center with no line whatsoever, a panel took place that explained exactly why all those fans were waiting in the first place.

My favorite line in the new trailer for Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four, which was just released online after its debut last weekend at Comic-Con, is the one spoken by Reg. E. Cathey as Dr. Franklin Storm. “It is our duty as human beings,” he says, “to push forward into the unknown.”

It was the end of an era at Comic-Con 2015, as for the first time in years, Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter wasn’t on hand himself to preview the latest bloodsport. That isn’t to say that Sutter didn’t attend in spirit, instead sending along an exclusive preview of September FX premiere The Bastard Executioner, and we were on hand for all the gory details.

FX vampire thriller The Strain will return for Season 2 in only a few hours, but the Guillermo del Toro-adapted series couldn’t wait to vomit forth a few wormy details from Comic-Con 2015.
