Steve McQueen is a master of artful, searing dramas about fraught masculinity and suffering. Gillian Flynn is known for her twisty page-turners led by complex women carrying the burdens of trauma. Those two many not seem like the most likely of collaborators, but we get a beautiful marriage of their talents with Widows, a crowd-pleasing heist thriller with plenty on its mind.
Luc Besson’s passion project, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, arrives in theaters less than two months from now, but that doesn’t mean it can’t still add a member to its cast. Production officially wrapped last June, but Elizabeth Debicki has now joined the film for a voiceover role.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has only been in theaters for less than a week, which — in the internet’s infinitely fickle estimation — means it’s time to start focusing on the next chapter in Marvel’s intergalactic superhero saga. It’ll probably be another three or four years before we see our favorite bunch of a-holes back on the big screen, but director James Gunn is already fielding questions about his plans for Vol. 3.
Placing Tom Hiddleston at the center of a John le Carré was bound to yield results, and AMC’s iteration of The Night Manager had that in spades (awkward Golden Globes speeches aside). Now, despite the story’s end, director Susanne Bier may be looking into a second season, claiming scripts are being developed.

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, her name is Ayesha, a formidable new villain played by Elizabeth Debicki. We haven’t gotten a peek at her just yet, but thanks to a promo image for an upcoming line of Funko toys, we now have a slight idea of what Debicki’s MCU villain looks like.
