In a move that’s sure to elicit at least a few eye rolls, Warner Bros. has tapped a male screenwriter to collaborate with Patty Jenkins on the Wonder Woman sequel. But before you roll your eyes too hard, Dave Callaham has an existing working relationship with Jenkins: The pair were developing a mystery thriller together before Jenkins took the Wonder Woman gig.

The battle on the beach is one of the most visually compelling setpieces in Wonder Woman, and it’s the catalyst that convinces Diana she needs to leave her home’s idyllic shores to save the world of men from themselves. As Patty Jenkins explains in a new behind-the-scenes breakdown of the fight, it was important for the whole thing to be from Diana’s perspective.

It just wouldn’t be Hollywood without directors of massively successful movies talking jive about other directors’ massively successful movies. James Cameron is the latest offender, offering up some boiling hot takes about Patty Jenkins’ summer hit Wonder Woman. Apparently, it wasn’t feminist enough for ol’ James.

The Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media, created by the actress in 2004, has worked with creators to help improve the representation of women in Hollywood films and television shows. Davis has also launched her own film festival, the Bentonville Film Festival, with the stated mission of selecting film celebrating diversity.

‘Wonder Woman’ Blu-ray DVD Release to Include Unused Epilogue
Here in my home of New York, Wonder Woman still has multiple daily showtimes at multiple theaters around town, nearly two and a half months after its theatrical debut. And just yesterday, Warner Bros. announced that they would begin the film’s home-video rollout on August 29 with a Digital HD streaming option before releasing the Blu-ray and DVD on September 19. With theatrical screenings scheduled to continue until at least a week from today, that leaves an eleven-day window during which fans will have to live in a world where they can’t readily watch Wonder Woman at their leisure. It will be a brief dark age, but the specifics of the release suggest that devotees will find the wait worth it.

Wonder Woman, if you can believe it, is still breaking records and defying explanations more than two months after its release. On Tuesday, the film broke past the $400 million mark domestically, now in league with such box office juggernauts as Star Wars: The Force Awakens, The Avengers, The Dark Knight, and, uh, Shrek 2.
