'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' fans have breathed a big sigh of relief in these past few weeks.  Not only was that bizarre Michael Bay-helmed 'Ninja Turtles' that turned the iconic heroes into aliens seemingly put to rest, but now we've got a first look at TV's return to more traditional turtles!  In the first trailer for the upcoming animated series, how do the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles stack up?

Set to premiere on Nickelodeon this fall, the brand-new animated series adaptation of 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' today unleashes its first official trailer, courtesy of EW.  Boasting an all-star cast including the likes of Jason Biggs ('American Reunion') as Leonardo and Sean Astin ('The Lord of the Rings') as Raphael, 'Tennage Mutant Ninja Turtles' will return the classic characters to their roots, eschewing any overly grandiose use of aliens, or change to the classic mythos.

“They were created by accident,” the mysterious voice in the trailer says. “They were kept a secret. They were trained for battle. And now, when their city is under siege, the fate of humanity is in the hands of these four…turtles!  When evil threatens our universe, these four brothers are destined to save the world!  EW also spoke to executive producer Ciro Neili, who explained his vision of the series, saying:

“I tried to boil it down and get to really what’s at the core of it, which is this sense of brothers and camaraderie. Everything grew out of that. It’s like a band. You want a Beatles thing.”
