‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ — Whoopi Goldberg’s Role Revealed?

Remember when Whoopi Goldberg was spotted on the set of 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'? Take this one with a grain of salt since it doesn't come through any official channels, but we may have learned who she will be playing in the upcoming reboot. Drumroll, please...

Bernadete Thompson, a TV news editor and boss to April O'Neil (Megan Fox) and Vernon Fenwick (Will Arnett).

That may seems slightly underwhelming, but that's why we think there's a ring of truth to this scoop (which comes courtesy of Comic Book Movie). If the buzz was that she was playing a major Turtles villain, we'd raise an eyebrow or two. But the main human characters' boss? We can buy that. That sounds perfectly reasonable.

The original article puts two and two together and reasons that Goldberg's character is an update on Burne Thompson, April's boss in the '80s animated TV series. Of course, that character was a man, but this is the kind of change that surely won't ruffle any fanboy feathers. Because is anyone really going to be upset that Burne is now Bernadete? Nah. At least no sane people will get bent out of shape about it.
