Though 'The Amazing Spider-Man' tried to sidestep the Osborn family, the sequel 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'  is going to introduce us to Harry Osborn, and the role has already been narrowed to three candidates: Brady Corbet, Dane DeHaan and Alden Ehrenreich.

As can be guessed, most of the actors are just coming up. DeHann may have the most recognizable face as one of the leads of 'Chronicle, Ehrenreich was in Francis Ford Coppola's last two movies, and is about to appear in 'Stoker' and 'Beautiful Creatures,' while Corbett was recently in 'Melancholia' and 'Martha Marcy May Marlene.'

The Hollywood Reporter, who broke the news, says that the role " originally called for a bigger, athletic actor, is being reconfigured and now is targeting a more 'dark and edgy' actor." The question is how large a part Harry - and possibly his father - play in the film. The end of 'Amazing Spider-Man' suggested a mysterious figure who knew a lot about Peter Parker, and that could well be Norman Osborn. It seems doubtful it's Electro, because the shadowy figure looked nor sounded much like Jamie Foxx, who's already been cast, but you never know.

And with Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson (though supposedly in a small role), and rumors of this being based on 'The Night Gwen Stacy Died,' this is likely to be a packed narrative, which was one of the problems with 'Spider-Man 3.' We'll know for sure when the film hits theaters May 2, 2014.
