We like to consider ourselves connoisseurs of 'The Walking Dead,' both comic and TV, especially with regard to how they compare to one another. Fans of either medium were overjoyed with last year's season finale "Beside the Dying Fire," which introduced not only comic character Michonne and the prison, but also alluded to the coming of infamous villain The Governor. Could the same treatment be in store for season 3? What famous comic character is rumored to be introduced in the season 3 finale, and what 'The Wire' star could bring him to life?

Paging Tyreese! You're wanted on the set of 'The Walking Dead.' Many elements of 'The Walking Dead' end up lost or even modified in translation from comic to screen, but perhaps none have been so lamented as the lack of comic-character Tyreese, a former Atlanta Falcons football player who traveled with his daughter and her boyfriend, joining Rick Grimes' group before they reached Hershel's farm.

That lament may soon be addressed, as rumors floating around the web at RoamersAndLurkers indicate that the character will appear after all toward the end of the third season, likely a resident of the Woodbury group. Best of all, the role is said to be played by actor Chad Coleman, of 'The Wire' fame! The appearance remains a rumor for now, though the same source earlier identified that comic character Martinez (Jose Cantillo) would appear on the AMC series.

Fans of the books will remember that Tyreese served as Rick's right-hand man after Shane's death, a role the AMC series has mostly filled with original Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus). Given that the comic Tyreese also shared a romantic interest in Carol (Melissa McBride), should we be worried for our favorite crossbow-wielding, squirrel-chomping bad-ass?

What say you? Would you like to see Tyreese introduced on AMC's 'The Walking Dead'? What other characters do you want to make an appearance?

UPDATE - 3:30 p.m. - Sweet!  Entertainment Weekly has confirmed with Robert Kirkman that in 'The Walking Dead' season 3's fall finale on December 2, “A big deal fan favorite from the comic book is introduced into the show in this episode, so be on the lookout for that.”  The report also confirms that Chad Coleman has been sighted in the Atlanta area near the show's set, and could play the character!
