As if we hadn't been shouting it from the rooftops already, 'The Walking Dead' season 4 will make its triumphant return this Sunday, kicking off the first of eight more episodes to pick up after the events of climactic midseason finale "Too Far Gone." We've seen all the trailers and photos and gathered intel on what new characters we'll meet, but which survivor's fate might be put on hold until season 5?

You're warned of spoilers for the rest of 'The Walking Dead' season 4 and potentially season 5 thereafter, but according to showrunner Scott Gimple, it's our dear Morgan (Lennie James)! Yes, speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Gimple confirmed that in spite of earlier rumors to the contrary, not to mention the cancellation of AMC's 'Low Winter Sun,' Morgan will definitely not appear within the final eight episodes of season 4.

That said, after Gimple identified that he'd been misquoted about Morgan's returned, he did offer one little nugget of hope: "Will he be on the show again? Yes. I am absolutely certain of that." We'll also warn you against comic spoilers, before telling you that it wasn't long after leaving the prison that Rick specifically went back to find Morgan, encountering him in an unstable state somewhat similar to the AMC season 3 episode "Clear." Comic Morgan had similarly lost Duane, though hadn't quite gone to the extremes of creating elaborate traps, ultimately agreeing to join Rick's group.

No doubt we'll have plenty of surprises to come in the back half of season 4, but in the meantime, what say you? Are you disappointed Morgan won't return at all in the next eight episodes? What do you hope to see when we pick up with the other survivors? Watch the latest trailer below, and give us your 'Walking Dead' predictions in the comments underneath!
