‘The Walking Dead’ Companion Series Gets First Two Cast Members, New Title?
AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead’ has gone and left us to wait until February 2015 for new episodes, but that hasn’t stopped the spinoff “companion” series from keeping the zombie apocalypse in business. Not only has the new horror-drama series cast Frank Dillane (Voldemort!) and Alycia Debnam Carey, but so too may ‘The Walking Dead’ spinoff have a new title and focus.
Per Deadline, the name “Cobalt” has apparently emerged as a potential new surname (or at least temporary codename) for the series, which is said to revolve around a male divorced teacher and a female guidance counselor at a different stage of the zombie apocalypse. ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince‘ star Dillane has been tapped to play the woman’s drug-addicted son, while AMC pilot ‘Galyntine’'s Debnam Carey takes the role of her ambitious daughter. So, you know, drugs and ambition!
‘Walking Dead’ executive producers Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert will all take part in the new series, while ‘Sons of Anarchy’ and ‘Low Winter Sun‘ vet Dave Erickson will both co-write and executive produce, with Adam Davidson directing the pilot. We know that the series won’t be set in Georgia, but could potentially cross over with the main ‘Walking Dead’ cast in time, as Kirkman previously offered up a few thoughts as to what might bring the series together.
What do you think? Do the first to additions have you any more curious to see a different cast and take on ‘The Walking Dead?’ What might you like to see when the companion series debuts in 2015? Preview the show’s 2015 return, and give us your thoughts in the comments!
