Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are back in town with 'The World's End,' an alien takeover comedy coming out later this year. We've seen the trailer before, now let's take a look at the US poster!

The new one-sheet for 'The World's End' highlights the mix of jovial comedy and genre-movie terror we've come to expect from the creators of 'Shaun of the Dead' and 'Hot Fuzz.' The imagery of scary figures lurking in the background combined with the tagline, "Six Friends. Twelve Pubs. Total Annihilation," should also tell you everything you need to know about the film. Namely, that it's about a group of pals who run into some extreme trouble while attempting to get their drink on. Or as the other tagline succinctly puts it: "Barmageddon!"

But don't let us tell it; here's Focus Features' official synopsis for the film:

In THE WORLD'S END, 20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hellbent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by Gary King (Simon Pegg), a 40-year-old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their hometown and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub – The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.

'The World's End' opens on August 23 in the US.
