TNT’s ‘The Alienist’ Adaptation Sets 2018 Premiere With New Trailer
The Alienist is almost among us. TNT’s take on the Caleb Carr international bestseller has officially set a 2018 premiere with a brand-new trailer for the Cary Fukunaga-produced series.
What is an “Alienist,” you ask? Allow Daniel Brühl to answer that question outright in the first moments of TNT’s new trailer, which also promises a January 22, 2018 premiere. Taking place in 1896, the new series is set “amidst the vast wealth, extreme poverty and technological innovation of New York during the Gilded Age,” and follows the hunt for a serial killer who murders boy prostitutes.
Captain America: Civil War star Daniel Brühl leads the new drama as Dr. Laszlo Kreizler, along with Beauty and the Beast star Luke Evans as newspaper illustrator John Moore and Dakota Fanning as aspiring female detective Sara Howard. Also starring are Douglas Smith, Matthew Shear, Matt Lintz, Robert Ray Wisdom and Q'orianka Kilcher.
Black Mirror director Jakob Verbruggen helmed the series, with Fukunaga, Eric Roth, Hossein Amini, E. Max Frye and Anonymous Content serving as executive producers. Watch the first trailer below, and stay tuned for more on the 2018 premiere.
