'Transcendence' is starting to look like it'll have something for everyone. For some, it's the exciting directorial debut of Oscar-winning cinematographer Wally Pfister (the man behind the camera for most of Christopher Nolan's films). For others, it's the next Johnny Depp movie. For those still not interested, maybe the casting of the lovely Rebecca Hall will sweeten the deal.

Although the plot details of 'Transcendence' are under wraps, we know that it's a hard sci-fi project described as being in the same ballpark as 'Inception' and '2001: A Space Odyssey.' We know that Depp will play "a man who creates a computer program that develops an awareness" and that Hall will be playing his wife, who the Hollywood Reporter describes as "a fellow academic." The film is set to begin shooting next month for a mid-2014 release date.

And that's really all we know at this point! However, the fact that they've nabbed an actor of Depp's quality (and price) and are hoping for a summer release suggests that someone in the production sees this being a potentially big movie. Hall may not be the household name that Depp is, but she's been a solid presence in every movie she's appeared in and she already has a slight connection to Pfister, having appeared in 'The Prestige' (which he shot). Co-starring with Johnny Depp sounds like the next natural step in the evolution of her career.

In the meantime, fans of Rebecca Hall can see her in 'Iron Man 3' on May 3.
