Tom Ford’s long-awaited follow-up to A Single Man just premiered at TIFF, and the early reactions from critics have been rather glowing — that’s bittersweet news for fans of Ford, who will have to wait just a little longer to see the fashion designer and director’s latest project, Nocturnal Animals. Thankfully, these intriguingly stylish new character posters will help bide the time (kind of) until we can at least see the first trailer.

Focus Features debuted four new character posters for Nocturnal Animals, featuring Amy Adams, Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Shannon and Aaron Taylor-Johnson — quite the cast:

Based on the 1993 novel Tony and Susan by Austin Wright, Nocturnal Animals is a riveting story-within-a-story about a woman (Adams) who receives a manuscript from her ex-husband (Gyllenhaal), and soon finds herself immersed in the narrative, which she interprets as a thinly-veiled threat:

From writer/director Tom Ford comes a haunting romantic thriller of shocking intimacy and gripping tension that explores the thin lines between love and cruelty, and revenge and redemption. Academy Award nominees Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal star as a divorced couple discovering dark truths about each other and themselves in NOCTURNAL ANIMALS.

Nocturnal Animals also stars Isla Fisher, Armie Hammer, Michael Sheen, Laura Linney and Andrea Riseborough, and hits select theaters on November 18; it will expand to additional theaters on November 23 before going nationwide on December 9.
