Marvel’s Netflix future will formally begin with the April 10 arrival of Daredevil, but sophomore series AKA Jessica Jones doesn’t mind stealing a bit of spotlight with its own production. The latest to join the cast of Marvel’s superheroine detective drama are Eka Darville, Erin Moriarty, and Wil Traval, but who from the comic universe can we gather they’ll play?

Per Marvel’s official announcement on the matter, Darville (left) will play Jessica’s neighbor Malcolm, whose “journey will intertwine with her quest in a surprising way,” while Moriarty (center) will play Hope, a young girl who becomes a client of Jessica’s Alias Investigations. Finally, Traval (you've got this one) will play an NYPD officer who takes “protect and serve” rather seriously, it seems.

Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg had plenty of say of the castings, for those uncertain what to make of our newest additions:

Eka brings such depth, humor and nuanced performance to the characters he plays, which makes him the perfect person to portray Malcolm. I’m looking forward to seeing what he will bring to this role.

In Erin I immediately recognized an incredibly talented, mature and complex actress, who brings myriad levels to every scene. She has an incredible career in front of her and I’m delighted we have someone of her caliber for this important role.

Wil Traval is a very emotionally courageous actor, able be profoundly vulnerable, or venal, or funny or fierce. I’ve been searching for an opportunity to work with both Erin and Wil again, and am excited to see them in these roles.

So … yeah, sure. Why not. For those unfamiliar with the new series, Jessica Jones emerged in Alias comics as a superhero suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, leading her to hang up the costume and opening a detective agency, wherein she helps both super and human clients.  Marvel’s 13-episode AKA Jessica Jones will hit Netflix at an undisclosed point in 2015, following the April 10 release of Daredevil.

In addition to Krysten Ritter in the title role, Marvel’s AKA Jessica Jones also features among its cast Mike Colter as Luke Cage (subsequently to headline his own series), Doctor Who favorite David Tennant as Zebediah Kilgrave, better known as Marvel’s “Purple Man,” Carrie-Anne Moss as “Harper” and Transformers star Rachael Taylor as Patsy “Hellcat” Walker.

It’s a bit early to make much of Marvel’s AKA Jessica Jones (judging by its casually human set photos), but hey, the more the merrier! We wouldn’t expect any official shots just yet, but a timeline for the 2015 release date would do. To the speculation-mobile!

It’s … it’s my Jetta. I have errands to run.
