'American Horror Story' Season 4 to Be Set at a Carnival?Kevin Fitzpatrick |
Between haunted California mansions, Northeastern mental asylums and the witchy backwoods of Louisiana, FX's 'American Horror Story' has run the gamut of creepy locales for its myriad horror hijinks. While season 4 has yet to receive an official title, writers have confirmed that the next go around of Ryan Murphy's horror carousel will almost certainly take place in a carnival setting.
Rumors for 'American Horror Story' season 4's carnival setting have swirled since 2013, with series star Sarah Paulson recently alluding as much to Vulture with her practicing "a very special skill," though most recently writer Douglas Petrie confirmed in a Nerdist podcast that we will see a carnival of sorts in the 1950's setting. "Yes. It doesn't have a title, but that's the idea," said Petrie to questions about the carnival rumor. "Very roughly, that's the idea."
Previously, Murphy specified that series star Jessica Lange had begun work on her German accent, which falls in line with earlier words that “Jessica Lange has always wanted to play a Marlene Dietrich figure, and now she gets to.” Murphy also claimed that the fourth season would shoot in New Orleans again, or perhaps in Santa Fe, while Lange claims the fourth run will be her last with the franchise.
Hopefully we'll have a confirmed title and the official word on returning stars in the coming months, but what do you think? Can 'American Horror Story' recreate the same spookiness with a carnival setting? What tropes would you want to see tackled in the upcoming season?
