Ever one for subtlety, American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy more or less guaranteed us a sixth season by extending an invitation to Lady Gaga, not that the FX ratings smash cast any doubt over renewal. Now, American Horror Story has made official another round beyond Hotel, but has Gaga signed the dotted line?

FX may have renewed its flagship horror fest for another round to air in 2016 (presumably another 13 episodes of ungodly length), though no major details, neither cast nor concept have yet emerged. Gaga notably never responded (in public) to Murphy’s invitation, though worth noting are the production hurdles of the pop megastar managing her Hotel shoots with an already-busy career to begin with.

So says FX on the matter:

With the sixth installment coming next year, American Horror Story has unquestionably joined the ranks of television’s landmark series. From Murder House to Hotel, AHS has pioneered a new television form as well becoming FX’s highest rated show – while also pushing every conceivable boundary of creative excellence and audacity.

This is even more remarkable because Ryan and co-creator Brad Falchuk tear up the playbook every year, challenging the entire creative team to come up with something even more spectacular, frightful and entertaining. You could not ask more of an artist, their team or a series and with every new installment they deliver.

American Horror Story: Hotel will continue with “Room 33" this week, but where should Season 6 take place? Our take? It’s time to send American Horror Story to goddamn space, guys.
