Well, we didn’t need any superpowered time-travelers to see this one coming. Given the breakout success of both Arrow and The Flash, soon to culminate in another Season 3 crossover, the much-hyped teamup spinoff is officially a go at The CW. Are you ready to meet DC’s Legends of Tomorrow?

Though no premiere date or official episode order has yet been discussed, nor any actual pilot shot, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is expected to premiere some kind of trailer presentation at next week’s Upfronts. For now at least, the plot thickens with an official synopsis for the spinoff:

When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat – one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known? The cast includes Victor Garber (The Flash); Brandon Routh (Arrow); Arthur Darvill (Doctor Who); Caity Lotz (Arrow); Dominic Purcell (The Flash) and Wentworth Miller (The Flash).

Thus far, we know the series to include Dr. Martin Stein (Victor Garber), Jay Jackson (Franz Drameh), Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee), Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell), Caity Lotz’s character, and time-traveler Rip Hunter (Doctor Who alum Arthur Darvill).

We’ll see what else shakes out about DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, but can The CW really sustain a third superhero series, especially one of this size?
